Why should the staff team accept you as a Moderator on Colossal Gaming Military Roleplay?: I love the server and the people that play it. I want to help the staff team out when it comes to dealing with people breaking the server rules. I have really enjoyed being a guest user and I am thankful for the staff team that have helped create that experience. I feel that it is time I give back to the server and that the experience would be rewarding.
Discuss your ability to work in a team and give examples that demonstrate this: I listen to the chain of command if someone tells me to do something I do it. If I think it could be done differently I just voice my opinion in an appropriate manner so the other people can think about it. An example that demonstrates that I can work in a team is that I’m a LCPL in cadets. I have to work in a team to teach and make sure that the cadets are ok.
Discuss any past experiences that you believe have impacted the server and player(s) positively:
Well, I was helping people getting promoted and helping them learn, so they can pass tryouts and promo training and it made them happy because they were moving through the ranks. and kept them interested in playing the server.
Describe your personality and speak a little about yourself: I’m a hard working type of guy who isn’t afraid to speak up and questions to help my work/ performance. I like to be friendly to people and enjoy talking and meeting new people. I'm currently a year 12 student and will finish on the 12th of April. I'm also doing my electrical apprenticeship that I would like to finish it in the navy. I take criticism well and use it to help improve my failings especially when learning something new.
Scenario 1: A Player is running around on the server and rdming constantly. Despite previous warnings from other staff, this player is still on his murder spree. All the other staff has logged off and you are the only one left. The player count is around 35. You've encountered this player before and have found him to be quite the minge.
Question 1: As a Moderator, how do you react? I would stay calm and do my role and not be angry at him and still be nice and I would jailtp him and talk to him about the situation. If he RDM killed more than 3 people in the space of five minutes I would ask him why he is RDMing. I would then explain to the player why the behaviour is inappropriate. I would inform that due to the previous warnings from staff he will be receiving a one week ban (assuming he doesn’t have previous MRDM’s). I would then suggest a better course of action for when he returns to the server so that he might not do it again. I would issue a warning !warnid (steamID) Despite previous warning the player has continued to RDM/MRDM - 1-week ban. Assuming I am able to ban for 1 week I would then ban him with the ULX menu, or if I am T-MOD in this scenario I would ban for 3 days and put a notice in the staff channel explaining the ban and asking for the extension to 1 week.
Scenario 2: A well-known Player has Mass-RDMed a small squad of Players on his own team. This Player has been a very great member in the past, however recently you've observed that they are slipping up a lot.
Question 2: As a Moderator, how do you react?
Because the player is a well known member of the community who has been slipping up a lot I would tp the player into the admin box and talk to him about the situation. I would ask questions like “You have just mass RDMed a small group of your mates, why is that?” After collecting a picture of the player's side of the story I would tell him I’m going to go speak to the player he killed. I would then go into a different admin room and tp each player individually. Depending on the story I get from these players there would be various outcomes. If the story of the players that were killed doesn’t match the killer's story I would go back to the player. I would query him about the situation and if the player has just blatantly Mass RDM’d I would have a serious chat with the player. After that, I would probably issue a ban varying from 12-24 hours if the player seems sincere and genuine about their mistake and has no recent bans/ warnings. If the player is aggressive or not taking the issue seriously I may consider a stand 1 week ban for Mass RDM since the player needs to realise the severity of their behaviour. On the other hand, if I find out the players were messing around or the Mass RDM was a mistake there would be different outcomes. For example, if the Mass RDM was accidentally I would talk about the situation, explain that the player needs to sort his act out, and issue a warning. If the Mass RDM was fooling around late at night I would stress the serious nature of the situation and the player's behaviour and then issue a kick + !warnid (steamid) Mass RDMing friends late at night, this is your last warning to sort out your behaviour - kick.
