In One Paragraph, please explain why you would like to become a Discord Administrator?:
i’ve always like being staff on discord servers, I get satisfaction out of helping people do what they need and honestly it’s just become second nature to me at this point (on discord of course), the server is full of people I like, and I don’t know how I didn’t find them sooner, there’s people that are funny and I enjoy joking around with on the discord, some I like having chats with and some I respect greatly, all this comes together to form a really nice community, and I’d honestly love to be even more active in that community however I can, although I may not be the best at everything, I give it all a shot, and I’m pretty happy I have this server a shot, I mean it’s become a part of my year that I’m gonna remember and I’d like best if I could impact it in a more helpful and better way.
In One Paragraph, please describe how you would make an impact on the Discord server as an Administrator?:
while some of the current discord admins might have more or less experience I believe that I can impact the discord server just right, not changing it to the point it’s unrecognisably, but not leaving it without help, the server is good, but there’s some slip ups between things that could be more efficient (I am in no way blaming anyone here, this is just something I believe) I’ve seen people request roles and not get them for hours, people ask a question in help desk but don’t get help until hours after, at which point they don’t care or fixed it by themselves, but could’ve been helped, I think that if I was on the team I could do more of these things, sure I may not know how to fix issues regarding more advanced things, but I’d give it my best shot and also refer them to someone I know can help, like if someone comes in asking how to do something that ascertains mainly to a developer, instead of them waiting hours for a developer to realise, I’d try and get a developer to sort it out as fast as possible. I do also think that I can strengthen the communication between the admins, I do not currently know how good it is, but I believe I can make it more efficient and help out not only the server, but the fellow administrators within it too, creating a win-win situation.
( I feel obligated to say that I have no clue if there is currently a system in place regarding what I have said above, and I feel like there may be one, however everything I said above still stands, including the strengthening of efficiency and communication)
Scenario 1: A User has been mic-spamming distorted/loud music in all of the public channels. They have since disconnected and you were only notified 20 minutes after the incident occurred.
Question 1: As a Discord Administrator, how do you react?:
I’d first ask for their name and proof, if I get proof of them doing this it’d result in a verbal warning first, telling them that if they do it again I’ll have them formally warned, muted, kicked, banned.
Scenario 2: A User has been waiting in the HELPDESK channel for over an hour and a half. You join the help-desk channel to assist them and you discover they are quite agitated by your slow response.
Question 2: As a Discord Administrator, how do you react?:
(below is a copy and paste of my last response as I feel it still stands)
I'd start off with apologising first and then explain that while the staff are as active as possible, sometimes they have stuff they have to do themselves, and can not always be on the server 24/7, after explaining that I'd ask whether or not they have asked for help in the 'Helpdesk channel' and whether or not they were given information that helped, if their answer is a no (which chances are it is) I would try my best to help them and fix their problem, if I do not know the answer myself, a senior staff member will be called for assistance to help fix the problem. Before they get on their way I'd thank them for waiting so long and apologise yet again to the slow response and try and clear up Any misunderstandings that may have occurred (hopefully, none), I'd also inform the other staff members that there was someone in the Helpdesk VC for over an hour waiting for help, and try to the best of my ability to make sure that a situation where someone waits for that long doesn't happen again.
before the end if my application is like to inform all reading this that I’m open to any kind of criticism, even if you just want to call it shit you can feel free to do so, however if possible I’d like people to base it off my merit and ability that I stated above in this application.
